Hello, and welcome from the host of the Uncle Walt Podcast, Kyle.
Hello friends, and welcome to The Uncle Walt Podcast's homepage. I would personally like to give you all a heartfelt thank you for listening and supporting the podcast.
My name is Kyle and I am the host of The Uncle Walt Podcast, (I'm also the producer, sound engineer, editor, web master... you get the picture..), and if you're listening to, and supporting the podcast then we probably have something in common... We both love Disney! Or, at least we both are interested in learning about Walt Disney. I grew up in the San Francisco bay area and traveled many times as a child to Disneyland with my family. Of course as a small boy growing up relatively close to the park (it's in the same state at least!) I absolutely fell in love with the experience of visiting the happiest place on earth. I was fascinated in school with Abraham Lincoln, (just like Walt!) I love steam trains, (Just like Walt!) and I have two daughters, (Just like..ok, ok you get the point.) although I would not learn of these commonalities with Walt Disney until adult hood. One of the things I love learning about is history. So as I got older I started learning and reading everything I could about the history of Disneyland. The more I learned the more fascinated, or obsessed if you ask my wife, about it I became. Naturally that led me to a desire to learn about the Man himself. I mean, we all know who Walt Disney is, but do we really? His legacy has continued on so long after his death that sometimes it gets hard to see where facts leave off and lore begins. I dove into books, biographies, magazines, documentaries, anything I could get my hands on in my pursuit of knowledge. For some strange reason I can't remember to take the garbage cans out to the curb on garbage day, or switch the laundry over to the dryer when it's ready, but I can absolutely remember the name of the horse Walt used to draw as a boy in Missouri (it was Rupert), or who was the voice of the "Ghost Host" in The Haunted Mansion attraction (It's Paul Frees), or that Doritos were actually invented at Disneyland. (They were!) It's a gift and a curse people... So I thought what better to do with all this information than to start a podcast and share it. Hopefully we'll even learn a thing or two together as I do not consider myself an expert by any means, just a fan who loves learning, and sharing information about Walt Disney. So That's it, that's me in a nutshell. I'm looking forward to taking this journey with all of you. Talk to you all on the next episode of The Uncle Walt Podcast..
